The O-Ring is a universal gasket that has infinite fields of use. It is for this reason that I.M.G.T. has, in addition to a vast availability of standard and metric O-Rings in FKM, NBR, EPDM and silicone, the option of producing customised (non-standard) sizes, even of large dimensions, in alternative materials for food safety. An O-ring is an elastomer ring (commonly called rubber), with a circular cross-section used as a mechanical seal or seal. O-rings made of rubber are designed to be inserted into special housings and compressed during the assembly of two or more parts, thus creating a seal. The join can be static, when the parts of the housing and the seal do not move relative to each other, or dynamic, when they do. Because of overheating due to friction, moving joints require adequate lubrication and speeds are limited. O-rings are quite common seals, used because of their limited cost and their resistance to tens of megapascals of pressure.
